As you probably know, this space hasn’t been very active as of late. Program-wise, though, Infuzion® has been incredibly active with over 16 live events this calendar year along with several Untorn® podcasts to accompany our retreat ministry. The opportunities have been seemingly endless! The burden is great towards the call of working with, ministering to, and coming alongside this generation for the cause of Christ. Please hear my heart when I share on behalf of our team that we don’t take this responsibility lightly.
This weekend, I had the chance to simply be with my family. We traveled to New Hampshire to celebrate Easter with extended family. While at my in-laws church on Sunday, my only son – Seth – made a decision that would melt any parent’s heart. In his own words, he shared with me that, “I gave my heart to God today.” Originally, the Sunday school teacher pulled me in and I thought that one of my kids somehow dabbled with the temptation of causing trouble. My conversation with her, however, was quite the opposite!
That was yesterday… the story continued into our trip home on Monday! All day long, on our trip home he was constantly talking to strangers and people about how he gave his heart to God on Easter. I am always in awe of how awkward my kids make others feel when they decide to press social boundaries with complete strangers, but to declare this news was something that went to a new level of astonishment in my heart. In a Rite Aid near Wilmington, Vermont, he walked up and hugged a complete stranger and said, “Hey, guess what?” The ladies replies, “What’s that?” Seth, in turn, jumps with excitement declaring, “I gave my heart to God yesterday!”
My son wants to share his heart with others about the how he surrendered his heart to God. Even going to bed Monday night, he was talking to me about how he was going to share it with his classmates tomorrow!
Seth is and always has been an exciteable kid. He says some of the coolest things in the world when you least expect it. I love bragging about him. I also love about bragging about what God is doing through him (along with Mya and Breah!)… and what God is teaching me about parenting, love, grace, discipline, and being soft hearted.
I’m challenged by my boy to simply share my heart! To talk about the transformation of my heart because of the grace of God in my life is something that doesn’t need to remain a secret. It doesn’t need to be a secret for anyone! My boy made the best decision that he could ever make on this side of reality. This should only be nurtured as he grows in life and in the Lord. Sunday was the day that we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. The sacrifice of Christ that has allowed us to each have new life, including my son – Seth – who “gave his heart to God!” May we all learn something from this example!
Much Love, Jay
