Togetherness: My Amazing Wife

Tuesday nights… Date nights… Softball nights?

I love my wife and I love spending time with her. This is a good thing, right? Of course! I also love my family, but it is nice to get away and spend some time with my wife without the distractions that can so easily come with such a young, busy family. Last night was date night for us, but we found a conflict happening. It was the first night of practice for our church softball team.

What to do? It’s a pretty simple answer for us, because we love to play sports together. Our date night consisted of going to play and practice together on the church softball team and going to Dunkin’ Donuts afterwards to warm up after the evening cooled down.

It as a simple date, yet so much fun. It also served as a great reminder of what we use to do all the time together before we had kids and it consisted of so much physical activity. We aren’t some sort of power couple when it comes to this activity, but we love to hang out and enjoy the camaraderie of a team and staying in shape doing so.

Some of you might ask what the favorite moment of the night was for us. It wasn’t the incredible diving catch that I made on the fringe of the outfield right behind the third baseman. It also wasn’t the times where we had batting practice and I was making good contact with the ball, placing it where I wanted. Our favorite part was the time where we were able to sit down and simply talk about the goofiness of the night, the practice, the characters that are on our team, and get serious at different points about where we were at in life.

It is about the little moments in life that make it huge and significantly important. I love the fact that we make time for us and for the togetherness that is our relationship. I know that we don’t have togetherness and life all figured out, but it is good to do life together and remember that it all comes out of the heart of the home.

Enjoy those that are closest to you. Celebrate the togetherness of your relationship with others in a way that is Godly and productive in conversation. You might be surprised by what a softball practice time and a quick stop at Dunkin’ Donuts can do in our connection and relationship with one another! Let’s look for the joy in the seemingly small things in life today.
