I think that there are times in all of our lives where we wonder about our effectiveness. We go through life wondering what is the greater meaning and purpose of what I am contributing to. We also go through life wondering how to measure effectiveness and whether something is worth the effort and the resources that we currently have available. If you personally don’t struggle with this, this blog entry is probably not for you.
Admittedly, this has been an ongoing battle of mine for the last several years. I have doubted my call and His ability in spite of my weaknesses. I have believed the lie inside that has repeatedly told me that I am not contributing to anything and the greater cause that I seek for my life to have meaning for is non-existent. There are times I tell myself that it’s all a pipe dream…
Thankfully, the Lord thinks different and reveals His truth to our hearts and lives.
I can speak to several experiences that have contributed to my lack of confidence in the Lord and my ongoing struggles with fear and anxiety, but this is not the time, nor the place. I don’t want to devote this space, this precious real estate known as Infuzion®.org or my blog to glorifying something that isn’t from the Lord.
The fact of the matter is that each one of us has life and can contribute towards Heavenly causes or purposes. Your life, my life, each one of us is filled with meaning and purpose. How this is ultimately measured comes from the Lord. The other fact of the matter is this – if we want to find and understand what our lives are meant to be about, we need to be willing to confess our need for Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us into God’s wisdom!
While recently flustered by nagging doubt, God revealed to me a sense of the effectiveness of Infuzion. Last year, we teamed up with Compassion International to equip teenagers and youth ministries alike to be worldchangers by releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name! In the first three months of our partnership, we saw over 30 children rescued from hopelessness and dispair. We decided to continue in our partnership and just saw another 50 children rescued out of poverty! That’s over 80 children we have seen sponsored by youth groups, teens, and their families in just under a year and a half!
For you and for me, we serve a greater purpose. We have a greater cause that goes beyond any one person here on planet earth. We serve a God who spans time and wants to recapture our imagination of what it means to serve and follow Him. We don’t need to shrink in shame or doubt or fear. We need only to surrender to the greater purposes that God has for each one of us. Then, we will see through the wisdom and encouragement of the Holy Spirit how much our lives matter!
Much Love, Jay
