Thankful For Family

Have you ever had a day where life situations keep on coming up over and over again? It’s a feeling of life continually being busy, out of control, chaotic, crazy, filled with all sorts of mayhem. For me, today isn’t one of those days, but I have certainly been down that road. I have wondered and questioned why all the craziness and why all the hardship?

When the seasons of life begin to shift and things are like what I explained above, I am thankful for family. I am thankful for the home that I have and the activity that takes place inside, in spite of how difficult and overwhelming it can be. Life is never dull in our house with three incredible children: Mya, 7; Seth, 4; and Breah, 1. I also have an awesome wife that loves Jesus and wants to press into the mysteries and characteristics of God. I am truly a blessed man and it is because of my family that I have the freedom to be able to minister and communicate the Gospel in the way in which I can. Infuzion® exists because God and His call, and because of the working of His Spirit in my family, my home, and in my own life.

The thing that I am grateful for in all of this is knowing full well that I am going home in awhile to a house that is active. I love activity, even though I might not always appreciate its results; I still love activity. I am not going home to an empty house, by myself, but going home to spend it with the people that know me best in an earthly sense. There is a continual love that exists in our home even when we blow it with each other. There is a persistence to strive for excellence in serving Jesus in our home. We want to be all that we can possibly be in The Lord by being available. On top of it all and, perhaps, most important of all, is that there is a hunger that is evident and growing in my family for the things of Jesus.

I love seeing my oldest daughter praying to Jesus to have a changed heart over an area of her life that she is struggling in. My middle child, my son, plays creative and imaginative games with Jesus on the other side of the room while I am getting some housework done. My youngest is filled with a persistent personality that loves life and is perpetually happy. She’s got a crazy personality. My wife… well… I will be writing the rest of the day and well into the night about our adventures together and her incredible qualities that light up a room and make for living life with her very enjoyable and fun.

There are days where I would love to feed my introverted side a little bit more and have some alone time, but I know that God has us together for an incredible reason, for His purposes. I’ve got a great situation and I am thankful for all of it. Let’s remember the people that God has in our lives for these same purposes and reasons. They stretch us and build us up. They encourage us and they make us cry. People, remember, are the mission and the people that are with us in this journey and season of life are there on purpose and with purpose.

Grow in it and learn to be thankful as I am learning to be equipped with the same attitude. May we appreciate the people in our lives and may we learn to be Christ’s hands and feet to those that we can interact with on an ongoing basis.

For the Kingdom, Jay
