Sanctity and Sorrow

Lately, I have been reminded of the importance of keeping the main things of life at the center of everything that I do. I get easily distracted with small problems that come that soak up all sorts of energy and extra resources that I have in reserve. I think that we can all relate to this ideal on some level as we have probably been there at one point or another.

My desire is to see this blog and my writing overall glorify God, honor family, and protect and celebrate the things of life. Too much Internet space is spent complaining about today’s issues and the problems of our world. There are arenas and forums which these can be discussed with great relevancy and understanding, but my mission and purpose is not to legitimatize one side over another. I want to come back to the start and remember the mission and the purpose for whom I minister, Jesus. Again, I want all my communication to glorify God, honor family, and celebrate life.

This morning, while listening to the news on the radio, I came across two interesting stories. One was unique in that it involved a pregnant couple that were killed in a hit and run car accident. Unfortunately, they still haven’t caught the presumed perpetrators. The baby was born yesterday following the accident and lived for a short time before passing away this morning.

In this story, I am reminded of the fragility and the sanctity of life. We simply never know when we will step into eternity. As this series of events reminds us, life is precious and it is also an incredible gift. Let’s not take this reality lightly or even take it for granted. We aren’t entitled to it, but for whatever reason we have this life in order to bring God glory through worshipping Him and loving on people.

Another story that was on the radio this morning points to a miraculous event! A child that was once diagnosed with HIV was found to be cured! The news reported that this is only the second documented time that someone has been cured from having HIV.

Talk about two different stories from different ends of the spectrum. Whether we are in the good seasons of life or the difficult ones that find us in the desert, wandering in nomadic fashion, God still is moving and wants to meet us right where we are at. He wants to walk with us through the valley of the shadow and He wants to celebrate the miraculous events that go beyond our limited understanding.

Most of us today would probably say that we fall somewhere in the middle of these two stories. Aren’t you glad today that your walk with Jesus Christ isn’t determined by your circumstances? Let’s look for the movements of God in the moments of everyday life. Let’s continue to seek Him out and bring Him all the glory, honor, and praise. Let’s be thankful for the good times and bad, for God is still on the throne. And today, may we be reminded that we don’t have to walk through life alone. We have God and also people that love us that walk with us through the amazing and awesome adventure of life.

Go live today for Him and see what becomes of it!

For the Kingdom, Jay
