National Day Of Prayer

I’m drawn to it… I long for it for my own heart and life… I want to see others captivated by it. What is it, you may ask? It is a heart for renewal and revival in a life that can otherwise be cold and distracted from the things that really mean something important.

I long for a spiritual awakening for our country, but I recognize that it really has to begin within me. If I want to be a person of influence and mention to others the heartbeat of God for their lives, I need to be willing to seek it out for my own life. The fact of the matter is that I am praying for it and desire this heart of transformation that is melting away the hardness inside to become something soft and amazing.

Many times people are not open to leading by example. They proclaim the changes that are needed for others, but aren’t ready to make it part of their own character and integrity. No matter where you stand on this, the important thing to realize is that we are all going to be people of influence in some way. And if I am going to have a message that I speak on with regularity come out of my life, I ought to have my life line up pursuing the very thing that I not for others. The craving is there to have it for my own life.

Today has been designated as the National Day of Prayer. Our leaders need prayer and our country certainly needs it, too. I would challenge you today that no matter where you stand politically that you would be united with one another in the heartbeat of prayer for these different areas of our country and its respective leadership. The whole discussion of whether or not we need a special day designation for this is up for debate, as I believe that we should be making this a normal part of our prayer lives, but it is here and it is a wonderful opportunity to serve as a reminder the importance of prayer and the call of our nation to get back on our knees again for our leadership, the broken, and the desire to see a culture redeemed.

Because of our church hosting a prayer service today and the previous commitment to this, there will be no Untorn® broadcast tonight. Tonight we were scheduled to look at Romans 13 together which talks about living under the submission and the authority of the leaders of the land that we have. I find the timing of this very appropriate and somewhat “ironic.”

Today, let’s remember and honor our leaders. I would also challenge you tonight to lift up our country in prayer and its leadership. You don’t have to agree with them politically to be able to pray for them. If you would like to offer a prayer below in the comment area, why not go for it?

Next week, we will return with our regular broadcast with Untorn at 8p right here on the website. Until then, keep on pressing into the things of God and remember to pray for the broken in our culture that so desperately need the things of Jesus. Pray that a massive revival and awakening would fall on our land. Pray, too, that it would begin with you and within your world!

Have an incredible day!

Jay
