I have experience walking down the lonely roads of life. Most people do. It’s a time and a season where one feels like they have been left to fend for themselves. The mindset is on how no one seems to understand the weight, the difficulty, and the situation that brought someone to this point! As the old adage goes, you could be around a crowd of people but feel like you are the only one who understands.
Thankfully, we have one who is able to relate to the ongoing struggles that we face in life. Hebrews 4 talks about how Jesus, as the Great High Priest, was tempted in every way, yet without sin. 1 Corinthians 10 also discusses how no temptation has overtaken you except that which is common to man. Jesus can relate as well as many others to the problems that you face and that creep into my life.
As if that weren’t enough, because truth and fact is more important than any feelings that have, Jesus also has the experience of walking the lonely road. In Matthew 26:36-56, we see His experience unfold. It began in Gethsemane and continues all the way to the Cross. Because He endured this lonely stretch in life leading to death, He has the authority to speak truth and fact into our lives. Here is how Jesus walked on the lonely road: The disciples avoided and were absent from Jesus when they traded in the opportunity to pray for sleep. And the disciples abandoned Jesus after He was taken captive and betrayed by Judas.
It doesn’t matter what you face, Jesus loves you and desires to be your advocate through both good times and troubled times. You don’t have to face life alone along with its many troubles. You have one who declares the fact over your feeling having endured the difficulty of facing loneliness when all of His disciples decided to do their own thing. Make His truth and experience your reality in whatever you may be facing today!
Much Love, Jay
